Lute and Tattie in Europe
The youngest daughter of George and Lute Bauer, Katherine (Tattie) showed exceptional talent as a violinist. In 1907 she traveled
to Germany to further her study of the violin. Her mother Lute accompanied her chronicling their year in Berlin in letters home.
Tattie was married to a doctor from Canada but died prematurely as a newlywed. The Bauers and Raffenspergers were
devastated by her death.
Lute Bauer was a photographer as well as poet. These photos were taken during 1907 when
she accompanied daughter Katherine (Tattie) to Eurpoe. Tattie may have excelled as
a young violinist, but romantic wardrobe and the size of her waist are also worth noting!
